Jim is a US Army Veteran who after serving became a professional photographer and fishing guide. He is the owner of Jim Churchill Outdoor Adventures and has been guiding on Lake Michigan for 22+ years. He also guides on the rivers and lakes of Western Michigan. Jim specializes in steelhead trout, walleye, salmon, and smallmouth bass.
Jim has been tying flies for years and also ties jigs for crappie fishing. He loves to teach others what he knows about fishing and fly tying, but he especially loves to learn. He is very passionate about teaching children and helping kids learn to fish and get them outdoors.
Jim has had a YouTube channel for 4 years and you can check him out at “Jim Churchill Outdoor Adventures”. He has become absolutely addicted to crappie fishing and the “thump” that comes along with it.
If Jim is not in his boat, you will either find him in the woods hunting, training his bird dog or someone else’s bird dog, or just enjoying outdoor to the fullest.
When Black Speck Fishing & Tackle launched in April, this guy that we had met and had never even heard of began promoting Black Speck Fishing. Mark and I were dumbfounded that this guy we did not even know had grown a passion for our business and was willing to dedicate his time and energy in to helping our business grow “just because”, expecting nothing in return. We all know that this type of person is a rarity in today’s world and our friendship began to grow. As we began to learn more about Jim, we learned of his guide services and that he sells jigs in addition to his passion for the outdoors and we are very grateful that he has accepted a Field Staff position with us.
